Luxman marks its centennial this year, and to commemorate this milestone, the phono amplifier E-07 has been introduced. The manufacturers claim that the E-07 establishes a new standard for performance and sound quality. It is compatible with both MM and MC cartridges and offers extensive adjustability for users.
Luxman E-07
Luxman started out as a radio manufacturer a hundred years ago. The company has gradually expanded its portfolio and now builds amplifiers (tube or semiconductor) and analogue and digital sources. The E-07 is Luxman’s latest device.
The E-07 features a slim chassis designed to match the width of Luxman’s amplifiers, complemented by a blasted white front panel for consistency in design. It incorporates the performance and diverse features required of a modern phono amplifier, enhancing the enjoyment of deep analog reproduction, according to the manufacturer. The newly developed step-up transformer for MC cartridges uses a super permalloy core with high small-signal response. It includes two independent units for each channel and Low/High gain, allowing for optimum transformer selection based on the chosen impedance group.
In addition, it supports balanced inputs that can receive differential signals from MC cartridges without loss of output energy, improving left-right stereo separation and image localization.
The user has three inputs at his disposal, i.e. 2 x stereo RCA and 1 x stereo XLR.
Luxman E-07: precise load adjustment for optimum element performance
The E-07 has a six-position rotary load impedance selector for MC pickups (4.7/10/40/100/300/1 kOhm) on the front panel. The rear panel has load impedance selector switches for MM pickups (34/47/56/100 kOhm) and load capacitance selector switches (0/100/220/320 pF). This allows for more precise adjustments so that a wide range of pickups can be selected for connection.
Luxman E-07: power transformer with independent filtering
The E-07 has a total of three power transformers. The left and right channels each have their own power transformer, and the third transformer is for the indicators and relay drive circuits. This design creates an ideal power environment where load fluctuations in each circuit block do not interfere with each other. The E-07 has five smoothing capacitors under the hood, each with a capacity of 10,000 ?F.
