Moondrop has introduced the Moondrop Concerto hybrid in-ear headphones, marking the company’s inaugural use of the innovative xMEMS driver in a hybrid setup alongside a proprietary 13mm superlinear planar magnetic driver. This new model features a dual-driver hybrid configuration that combines a solid-state silicon Montara xMEMS driver with a proprietary 13mm linear planar magnetic driver. The xMEMS drivers represent a significant advancement in HiFi audio technology, quickly gaining recognition for their exceptional ability to reproduce high frequencies.
The Moondrop Concerto headphones are equipped with a Montara xMEMS driver, which effectively manages frequencies exceeding 8 kHz. When paired with a large 13 mm planar driver that offers excellent responsiveness, the Moondrop Concerto produces remarkable, high-resolution sound quality.
Attention was given to the internal structure of the acoustic cavity in the Moondrop Concerto headphones to accommodate the sizable planar and xMEMS drivers effectively. These drivers are positioned in a V-shaped layout, forming a sharp angle between the vibrating surfaces of the high-frequency and low-frequency drivers. This configuration allows the drivers to operate harmoniously as a single system, providing exceptional coherence across the entire frequency range.
xMEMS drivers necessitate an independent power amplifier. The Moondrop Concerto headphones are supplied with a premium cable featuring a USB Type-C connector, which includes an integrated DAC and power amplifier specifically designed for xMEMS drivers. This DAC can decode high-resolution PCM signals at 32-bit / 384 kHz. Additionally, the cable is equipped with a remote control that offers three-button multimedia functionality and a built-in microphone.
Moondrop Concerto Hybrid In-Ear Headphones featuring xMEMS Drivers are now available for a recommended retail price of $329.99.
