Farad Super6: Linear power supply for audio components launched

Farad Super6
Farad Super6

Numerous contemporary audio components come with external pulse power supplies. One of the most impactful enhancements you can make to your audio system is to swap these units for linear power supplies. The Farad brand provides a comprehensive range of these devices. Previously, they offered the entry-level Super3 power supply and the high-end Super10 model. Now, they have introduced the mid-tier Super6 source, which is a linear power supply capable of delivering output from 5 to 24 V and a maximum current of 6A.

For the first time, the Farad Super6 uses a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker as a replacement for the input fuse. Listening tests showed that this circuit breaker outperformed all conventional fuses Farad has used – even the most exotic and expensive ones.

The Farad Super6 linear power supply comes with a half-meter L1 DC power cable with a GX16-4 connector on a 5.5/2.1 or 5.5/2.5 barrel. Various cable options for connecting the load with copper or silver wires are available as additional accessories.

The new product is already on sale. In the UK, the recommended retail price of the Farad Super6 is £1,689 .

Main features of the Farad Super6 linear power supply:

  • 6 Amps DC output current
  • Dual regulation with four parallel regulators for even lower noise levels and output impedance
  • triple shielded network transformer
  • nanocrystalline pi-filter-choke
  • foil output capacitors
  • Rhodium plated AC input jack
