Nvidia has announced an updated series of GeForce RTX 40 Super video cards, which will replace most of the existing analogues in the company’s line that are not part of the Super family.
The new series includes the RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4070 Super cards. Besides the RTX 4070 Super, two other models will replace their earlier counterparts, and the regular RTX 4070 will drop in price.
The main change for all video cards is the increase in the number of CUDA cores. The RTX 4080 Super received 5.3% additional cores, and the RTX 4070 Ti even more (10%). The RTX 4070 has the largest increase (22%).
The 4070 Ti also gets a memory upgrade, now featuring 16GB GDDR6X with a 256-bit wide memory bus, the same as the 4080, resulting in a 33% increase in memory bandwidth.
The 4080 Super also received a slight increase in memory bandwidth due to higher clock speeds.
Apart from this, there are no other changes to the GPU, and even the power consumption figures are generally similar. In terms of design, the Founders Edition RTX 4080 Super and RTX 4070 Super now feature a darker bronze finish. The RTX 4070 Ti Super still does not receive an FE version and is only available through board partners.
The RTX 4080 Super will be available for $999, which is significantly lower than the $1,199 price of the original model. It will be available from January 31st.
The RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4070 Super are priced at $799 and $599 respectively and will be available on January 24 and January 17 respectively. RTX 4070 price reduced to $549.
