Accuphase A-250: Class A mono power amplifier

Accuphase A-250
Accuphase A-250

The Accuphase A-250 is a Class A mono power amplifier, the majority of which consists of a toroidal transformer mounted on a special platform. The Accuphase A-250 amplifier is an absolutely uncompromising device, it is built using a fully balanced circuit and has ultra-low noise and an outstanding signal-to-noise ratio.

The front panel is made of anodized aluminum 8 mm thick. Massive radiators are installed inside the case to ensure effective heat dissipation from transistors operating in pure class “A”. This allows them to work much more accurately and save their parameters. Inside the Accuphase A-250 amplifier, copper and gold plated circuit boards are used. The amplifier also features dual MCS+ technology and current feedback for superior, clear, and transparent sound.

A massive toroidal shielded transformer and two massive 100,000 uF capacitors provide clean power to all power amplifier circuits. Each power amplifier has two massive heatsinks. Each such radiator has 10 pairs of field-effect transistors, which operate in push-pull mode and pure class “A”, providing 100 watts of power at 8 ohms, and 200 watts of power at 4 ohms, 400 watts at 2 ohms, and 800 watts at 1 ohms. Now only a few amplifiers can drive a load of 1 ohm – this is a very good indicator.

Accuphase A-250 has a control with which you can reduce the gain (0, -3, -6, -12 dB). The amplifier is also equipped with a switch for the “Normal” and “Bridged” operating modes. Beautiful digital LCD displays mesmerizingly move to the beat of the music. The gold-plated, high-quality speaker connectors allow you to connect spade-type cables.

In terms of sound: Absolutely transparent, slightly warm with excellent macro and micro dynamics. Luxurious velvety mids and clear high-frequency range. Absolute control of acoustics in bass. As a result, the Accuphase A-250, like all amplifiers of this brand, produces deep, clean, correct and accurate bass.
